Recipe: Mozzarella Pie

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 – 2 lbs ground beef (may substitute w/ground turkey)
  • 1 jar Ragu’ sauce
  • 16 oz mozzarella cheese
  • 2 cans crescent rolls (Click here for update using Pillsbury Crescent Recipe Creations.)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
  2. Brown ground beef, drain, add Ragu’ and simmer.
  3. Unroll one can of crescent rolls, separate and form bottom crust in 9×13 baking dish.
  4. Bake bottom crust for about 5 minutes. Crust will rise slightly. (Without this step, the crust will not rise and will likely be mushy.)
  5. Remove baking dish from oven and top with meat sauce.
  6. Sprinkle with mozzarella cheese.
  7. Unroll second can of crescent rolls, separate and press sections over cheese to form top crust.
  8. Bake for 15-20 minutes until crust is golden brown and cheese is melted.

*Optional: Add pepperoni for a pizza pie taste.
**Tip: Layer the meat sauce, pepperoni and cheese like lasagna.
