Recipe: Easy Au Gratan Potatoes

Summary: This great and very easy recipe was found on the back of a can of Del Monte Sliced New Potatoes. You may choose to combine the basic cheese recipe to any of your favorite prepared potatoes, or simply make your own.

Ingredients

  • 2 tbsp. butter or margarine
  • 2 tbsp. flour
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/8 tsp. garlic powder
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar or Swiss cheese (Of course, you may substitute with any cheese you like.)
  • 2 cans 14 1/2 oz. ea, Del Monte Sliced New Potatoes, drained

Instructions

  1. Melt butter in saucepan; blend in flour.
  2. Add milk gradually, and cook stirring constantly until thickened.
  3. Add garlic powder and 1/2 cup cheese.
  4. Combine potatoes and sauce in 2 qt. shallow baking dish; top with remaining cheese.
  5. Bake at 375 for 25 minutes or until golden brown and heated through.
  6. Garnish with sliced green onions if desired. (Or, you may want to use chives, bacon, or ham.)

    That is easy alright! I love to make Au Gratin potatoes in the crock pot. I make a huge batch and then freeze half for later. This would be nice for just a small side. Thanks!
