Cheeta’s Chocolate Brownies

“Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins. Beloved, if God so loved us, we ought also to love one another.” 1 Jo. 4:10-11

Summary: This is my mom’s simple recipe (adapted from Hershey’s Cocoa) that I promise will prove to be your favorite brownies yet.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup or 2 sticks real butter
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 4 eggs
  • 1 1/2 cups all purpose flour
  • 2/3 cup Hershey’s Cocoa (Note: For espresso/coffee brownies just add 2-3 tbs. espresso—or your favorite brand of finely ground coffee to taste, as espresso powder may be stronger.)
  • 1/2 tsp. baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • nuts, chocolate chips, peanut butter chips, cherry chips in batter and (or) spread on top while hot. (Andes Mints are always a favorite.)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350 and grease 9 x 13 baking dish.
  2. Melt butter and sugar together and add vanilla, then eggs one at a time.
  3. Sift in flour w/remaining dry ingredients until blended and bake for 25 min.
