  • Small Straws in a Soft Wind by Marsha Burns — October 22, 2009:

The Lord said to set a watch for disappointments and to guard our hearts with all diligence, for out of it spring the issues of life. (Proverbs 4:23)  And, I kept hearing Johnny Cash’s song “Walk the Line” over and over again. Here are the song lyrics –

I keep a close watch on this heart of mine
I keep my eyes wide open all the time
I keep the ends out for the tie that binds
Because you’re mine, I walk the line

I find it very, very easy to be true
I find myself alone when each day is through
Yes, I’ll admit that I’m a fool for you
Because you’re mine, I walk the line

As sure as night is dark and day is light
I keep you on my mind both day and night
And happiness I’ve known proves that it’s right
Because you’re mine, I walk the line

You’ve got a way to keep me on your side
You give me cause for love that I can’t hide
For you I know I’d even try to turn the tide
Because you’re mine, I walk the line

I keep a close watch on this heart of mine
I keep my eyes wide open all the time
I keep the ends out for the tie that binds
Because you’re mine, I walk the line

Song of Solomon 6:3 I am my beloved’s, And my beloved is mine.

And he arose, and rebuked the wind, and said unto the sea, Peace, be still. And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm.  Mark 4:39

In the hour of darkness, when you need to hear His voice, He will come and bring perfect peace.  In the still small hour, when you cannot bear each breath, He will come and be your voice.  In the moment, where you cannot find Him, He is there and will bring His light.

Behold, I go forward, but he is not there; and backward, but I cannot perceive him: On the left hand, where he doth work, but I cannot behold him: he hideth himself on the right hand, that I cannot see him: But he knoweth the way that I take: when he hath tried me, I shall come forth as gold.  My foot hath held his steps, his way have I kept, and not declined.  Neither have I gone back from the commandment of his lips; I have esteemed the words of his mouth more than my necessary food.  But he is in one mind, and who can turn him? and what his soul desireth, even that he doeth.  For he performeth the thing that is appointed for me: and many such things are with him.  Therefore am I troubled at his presence: when I consider, I am afraid of him.  For God maketh my heart soft, and the Almighty troubleth me: Because I was not cut off before the darkness, neither hath he covered the darkness from my face.  Job 23: 8-17

Jeni,

The above verses, found in Job, are taken from one of my favorite sermons as preached by Bishop George Stephens entitled “I Shall Come Forth”.   It is my hope that these words help bring His peace to cover you through your time of brokenness, and provide healing and strength through His unfailing love.

Peace be still as He works on the left side,

Happy Birthday Rena!!  First, let’s look back on those Small Straws and celebrate all He has done!

  • Small Straws In A Soft Wind by Marsha Burns — July 24, 2006:

Steer clear of the issues of life that cloud your vision and bring confusion. Keep your heart pure before Me, says the Lord, and trust that I will bring you through every obstacle, guiding you with My wisdom. Continue to fight the enemy in every place you find him, for certainly his strongholds will come down if you persist. Do not be afraid, but rather be courageous and very bold.

Proverbs 21:22: A wise man scales the city of the mighty, and brings down the trusted stronghold.

Then move forward to His word for today.

  • Small Straws In A Soft Wind by Marsha Burns — July 24, 2009:

Take time to be thankful, for there is power for blessings in thanksgiving. Stir up your gratitude by remembering what I have done for you, says the Lord. In so doing you will enter the realm of My presence and stand in holiness before My throne. There is nothing more pure in the kingdom than a grateful heart. Bring your perfect sacrifice of praise and be blessed.

Psalms 100:4 Enter into His gates with thanksgiving, and into His courts with praise. Be thankful to Him, and bless His name.

Now for some more nuggets I am adding from Life Today…

When the Miracle Doesn’t Come

  • “…We can’t judge adversity by what happens here.” —Steven K. Scott
  • “It takes as great a miracle to live without the miracle that you’ve hoped for, prayed for, wished for, longed for–it takes just as much grace to give you that miracle grace to live.” —James Robison

How timely is His message?  Bless your heart sis!  Celebrate your year—YOUR year of restoration!!

  • A shout out and a great big HAPPY BIRTHDAY to Tina Pettit our sister and friend!  May He bless you and your family today and everyday to come!  With love from all of us, Ginger and Family

From the time I was born, my life has been built on the foundation of faith.  When receiving the doctor’s report my father responded, “You go do what you gotta do, and I’ll go do what I gotta do.  I know a man who can!”

Pacing the floor in prayer, he embraced the faith of his childhood, while my mother, in her hospital bed, did the same.  Today, though we’ve faced many trials, we know to draw close to that same faith.  Faith in the Man who can.  The Man who HAS!

“O our God, wilt thou not judge them? for we have no might against this great company that cometh against us; neither know we what to do: but our eyes are upon thee. And all Judah stood before the LORD… then… came the Spirit of the LORD in the midst of the congregation; and he said, Hearken ye, all Judah, and ye inhabitants of Jerusalem… Thus saith the LORD unto you, Be not afraid nor dismayed by reason of this great multitude; for the battle is not yours, but God’s.

The Man who Has heard our cry.

Ye shall not need to fight in this battle: set yourselves, stand ye still, and see the salvation of the LORD with you, O Judah and Jerusalem: fear not, nor be dismayed; to morrow go out against them: for the LORD will be with you. And Jehoshaphat bowed his head with his face to the ground: and all Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem fell before the LORD, worshipping the LORD. 2 Chron. 20:12-15; 17-18

The Man whom we praise in advance… !

“Believe in the LORD your God, so shall ye be established… “

The Man whom we believe.

…as they went out before the army, and to say, Praise the LORD; for his mercy endureth for ever.  And when they began to sing and to praise, the LORD set ambushments against the children of Ammon, Moab, and mount Seir, which were come against Judah; and they were smitten. 2 Chron. 20:21-22

The Man who HAS WON our battle!

For the children of Ammon and Moab stood up against the inhabitants of mount Seir, utterly to slay and destroy them: and when they had made an end of the inhabitants of Seir, every one helped to destroy another. 2 Chron. 20:23

The Man who HAS caused our enemies destroy themselves.

And when Jehoshaphat and his people came to take away the spoil of them, they found among them in abundance both riches with the dead bodies, and precious jewels, which they stripped off for themselves, more than they could carry away: and they were three days in gathering of the spoil, it was so much. 2 Chron. 20:25

The Man who HAS left behind exceeding overflow!

Then they returned, every man of Judah and Jerusalem, and Jehoshaphat in the forefront of them, to go again to Jerusalem with joy; for the LORD had made them to rejoice over their enemies. 2 Chron. 20:27

The Man who HAS returned us to the City of Peace with joy.

And the fear of God was on all the kingdoms of those countries, when they had heard that the LORD fought against the enemies of Israel.  So the realm of Jehoshaphat was quiet: for his God gave him rest round about. 2 Chron. 20:29-30

Is the same Man who HAS given us rest!  The same Man who Has healed our Cammie, and who has met our every need.

It is the same Man who HAS said, “It is DONE!”
