Kristen is in Kenya! So keep her in your prayers, and click here to join Shannon @ Rocks In My Dryer.

Since I haven’t joined the fun at WFMW in a while, I thought I’d share about the wonderful world of hair color.  I love getting my hair done, and though the salon experience is a must, so is saving money with this thing we call economy.  Perusing the isle at your local Wal-mart, equipped with more choices than needed, can be daunting; so let’s narrow it down to some faves.  I’ll start with the many shades of Clairol since my ROUGE mini-mag happens to be seated next to me.  I have naturally dark hair, which I love, but gray is not my friend.  I tend to lean towards colors with a red/dark auburn hue to bring out and enhance natural highlights, so here are some of the top choices for me.  Don’t forget to look for some coupons to make the choice even easier.  My mag has some in the back, and you can’t go wrong with that.

So whether you prefer highlights or all over color, these pics show your best choices.  You can go directly to Clairol or Revlon to choose the shades just right for you.  Remember, hair coloring is not only to change you shade, it provides dimension to bring out your best facial features and can be the first step to a complete make over.  Have fun and enlist your husband for help.  Mine has proved to be better at the details than I am.  He has even taken the time to do the individual highlights. This time we chose Natural Instincts #22 Cinnaberry.  My sister and I recently got our hair done at our fave salon, so look for upcoming post Suzonne Rocks Our Hair for the big reveal.

You don’t have to stop with hair color alone, why not go all out and get some new make-up too.  You may want to try a different lipstick than those showcased.  They tend to be softer, and both of mine have broken.  But hey, they’ve definitely lasted me a while… I still love these products.

lisa-cake-week

wfmwkristen

This is absolutely one of my all time favorite cakes, which my mother traditionally made for my birthdays.  I love making it any time of year, but it is perfect in  spring and summer as a light refreshing treat.  You can even add strawberries to make stripes and berries for stars on the Fourth of July.  What could be better than that?

*You may also want to try orange cake and jello as a variation, similar to the Orange Dreamsicle Cake.  I have often thought about a chocolate respberry version as well.

I hope you will love this cake as much as I do.  For more easy cake recipes and tips, visit Lisa at Stop and Smell the Chocolates and Kristen at We are THAT Family.

Recipe: Strawberry Jello Cake

  1. Simply prepare cake and jello according to package directions.
  2. Once cooled, poke holes in cake with a fork or skewer. Then, ladle in jello as desired.
  3. Place in fridge to cool then top with Cool Whip.
  4. Return to fridge and allow jello to set for about 2 hours and serve with any remaining jello on the side.

Did I just say exercise WFM?

mattworkout

Denise always provides a good Pilates Yoga mix.

Same here. I so need a new resistance band for one of these.

Yes, I did!  I am finding more and more how Palates works best for me.  Now, if only I can keep up with my weekly regimen.

I prefer my Denise Austin DVDs, but find Winsor to work great when getting back into the swing of things.

Perfect for a beginner and continued workouts.

And yes, as a home-school mom, I do like Fit Kids, Wii Fitt, and My Fitness coach. While they all have their pro’s and cons, It’s nice to have a selection.  If only there was a better combo of these for both kids and adults alike.

fit-kids

My kids are so over this one! Maybe the workout is too much, or was that the kid factor? No, I love it. Guess they're just outgrowing it.

With the fun of Wii Fit, demonstration of My Fitness Coach, and true workout of the rest, what more would we need?

She may be animated, but she'll make you work hard.

You can find these and more at amazon.com, so step on over to Kristen’s and give your brain a work out.  WFM!  How about you?wii

vinegar

tide

So, do these go together or what?

Yes!  I have to say this vinegar thing really works.  Seriously, just put a cup or so in the wash as your rinse aid and save the bucks on that old fab softener.  Who said going green was hard?  Just do your own thing without going overboard.  Bottom line, if it works, use it!  Price is always key, so the vin is a must, even the Great Value, which I prefer.

Then there’s the whole using less soap factor.  It really does make a difference.  With all the uses of vinegar, keeping it simple works for me.  Try it in your dishwasher as well.  I like to use it as a everyday cleaner, but if the need requires more, go for it.

*Be careful of special instructions from your manufacturer noting risk in messing up censors, as in he washers and drying cycles of dishwashers.  There are some minor adjustments, so use at your own discretion.

So what’s your fave? Visit Kristen @ We are THAT family for more, and don’t forget to share your comments.

Off to clean, (maybe?)

  • 7 Ways His Word Works 4 Me!wfmwkristen
  1. Have Insomnia?  Try reading His word, the enemy is sure to knock you out!
  2. Hungry? Fresh “Manna” sent daily.  Those Frosted Flakes WFM.
  3. Do you have acne and are unsure if Proactive or Neutrogena will work for you?  Try the Salt and the Light.  It’s the best astringent around.
  4. For minor cuts and burns, the Healing Balm is always good.
  5. What about those tension headaches?  Migraines anyone?  No need for Excedrin, that Helmet is pretty protective.
  6. Worried about What not to Wear?  Righteousness and the Shoes of Peace match perfectly.
  7. And finally, whether your preference is Diet Coke, DDP, or COFFEE, just have a drink at Joel’s Place.  His cup is always full and will never run dry!

wfmw-logo-picOkay ladies, sufice to say this will be a short but sweet WFMW post.  I just have to do a lil’ shout out for my new Neutrogena products.  So let me start with my fave so far.  neutrogena4This awesome sheer lipstick rocks!  I have so been searching for a gloss with enough color that you actually don’t need lipstick.  Now I’ve found it!  I needed something to soothe my lips, as I am addicted to Chapstick, and  I love the sheer colors too.  I’d have to say the only downfall would be that you do have to reapply a lil’ more often, but I’d much rather reapply than use some of those ones that stay on and feel like primer.  If you’d like a little extra shine add this.  neutrogena3I also love to use this one to soothe my lips as well.  Don’t worry if you use a little too much, it tastes good too.  Now, onto the next item…neutrogena21This little duo really works.  I have another shade in green that is a lil’ too dark for my eyes, so I’m thinking I’ll try this shade.  A little goes a long way, and I love a natural look that makes my eyes pop.  neutrogena5

I looove this bronzer and highlighter, though I do have a different shade.  neutrogena7I even liking these better than the popular loose powders.  More compact and less mess WFM!  And finally, the dreaded acne cleanser treatment, which I have to say I must be more consistent with before deciding if it really works best for me.  neutrogenaI have the whole under the skin, make your face peel issues, so the jury’s still out on that one.  Possibly an update later… ?  We’ll see.  So there you have it.  Neutrogena WFM.  What are your favorite products?  Leave a comment, and stop by Rocks in My Dryer for more.

Why I am not addicted to dental floss!

Why I am not addicted to dental floss!

Yes Ladies, you read that right.  I so love my Oral B Birdie.  I know, these things are usually great for children, but for the flossing challenged they’re the best. It’s really small and helps get in between teeth.  Shoe shine up, and shoe shine down (as my Hygienist says).  You also don’t have to deal with a nasty strand of floss.  I have only seen them in the blue and green.  So sad, they need pink ok.    Check out this song from The Fairly Odd Parents.  < You need kids to understand that one!  (BTW: My teeth are not shiny.  I just thought the song was funny.  Besides, drinking coffee is always a good excuse.)

My Shiny Teeth And Me Lyrics
by Fairly Odd Parents

embedded by Embedded Video

YouTube Direkt

When I’m feeling lonely
Sad as I can be
All by myself on an uncharted island
in an endless sea

What makes me happy
fills me up with glee
those bones in my JAW!
that don’t have a flaw

My Shiny Teeth and ME

My shiny teeth that twinkle
Just like the stars in space
My shiny teeth that sparkle

addin’ beauty to my face

My shiny teeth that glisten
just like a Christmas tree
You know they walk a mile just to see me smile
Woo!
My Shiny Teeth and Me
(shiny teeth shiny teeth)

Yes they’re all so perfect
so white and pearly
Brush Gargle Rinse
A couple breath mints
My shiny teeth and me

My shiny teeth so awesome
just like my favorite song
My shiny teeth I floss them
so they grow to be real strong

My shiny teeth I love them

and they all love me (AhhhAhhh)
Why should I talk to you
when I got 32 (woo)
My shiny teeth and me

(shiny teeth shiny teeth)

My shiny teeth and me

(shiny teeth shiny teeth)

{music}

My shiny teeth that twinkle
Just like the stars in space
My shiny teeth that sparkle
addin’ beauty to my face

My shiny teeth that glisten
just like a Christmas tree (ahhhhahhhh)
You know they walk a mile just to see me smile
Woo!
My Shiny Teeth and Me

(shiny teeth shiny teeth)
