The Daily Mercies: Happy Birthday Gordon!

I can think of no better way to celebrate His mercy than through the birth of our children. Today we are so blessed to wish our 1st born son, Gordon, a very Happy 14th Birthday!

It’s amazing to know that He has entrusted us with the care of such wonderful boys. How thankful we are for His renewed mercies every morning, knowing He will guide their path.

Son,

You were the first to give me the title of ‘daddy’. When I used to hold you in my arms, you showed me that someone so little could carry more love in his heart than any container could ever hold. You showed me a love that was unconditional and freely given. I thank you for this.

Now as you start to grow into a young man, I know the title will change from ‘daddy’ to ‘dad’. No matter, I will try to hold back the feelings, but I will embrace you even more.

I thank God for letting me be a part of your life.

Hey Gordo!

Once again, I need your forgiveness on a long belated Happy Birthday! I thought of you all day, but I do that a lot anyway… I let the woos of the world and I must admit my really bad habit of procrastination which allowed your day to slip by me before I ever got to let you know I love you and no one can ever take your place in my heart. You are so special to me and I am so proud of you. Please forgive me and know I am always thinking of you and praying for you and I hope you continue to head in the direction you are going.
